I run anything from 5 miles to 10 miles (usually the shorter) three times a week so my daughter entered me for the Dublin Simon Fun Run on Saturday. Unfortunately, due to road works in the Phoenix Park, they had to reduce the race from 5 miles to 5 kilometers. As they felt this represented no challenge, my wife and daughter decided I should do it in fancy dress, blonde wig, teddy bear in a sling, wearing a pink nightie.
Did it in 28 minutes, a bit slow, but it ain't easy running one-handed. And I spent the first mile dodging around slower people ahead of me.
My wife and daughter are quite worried now, as I've taken rather a liking to the wig and nightie....
All in a good cause, I'm sure.
