With Arts budgets being slashed to ribbons around the country, it is with relief that I got a letter in the post today saying that the long-running Stony Thursday Book is now calling for submissions for its October 2011 edition. Well done to Limerick City Council for that.
Basic rules - local, national and international poets (bit discriminatory against extra-terrestrial poets, methinks)
Closing date for submissions - August 12th 2011
Send no more than 6 poems.
When submitting, write your name and address on each page
Send to : The Arts Service, Limerick City Council, City Hall, Merchants Quay, Limerick (marking your envelope Stony Thursday Book) or email artsoffice@limerickcity.ie
I was fortunate to get into the 2010 Stony Thursday book, along with 99 other writers and a lovely publication it is too. I'm still dipping in and out of it and finding something new each time.
Now there's lots of you out there who are much better than me at serious poetry but never or rarely submit to anything (you know who you are) This publication is a good one to try!
