Nearly time for Bloomsday, which celebrates a walk taken by a fictional character in a book most people find too hard to read, written by a man who, like most Irish artistic geniuses, was not blessed with good looks (check out the faces on the old Irish money - God, what a bag of spanners! However, it means there's hope for me yet - all I need now is a bit of talent).
As is now traditional, the Baffle fraternity are throwing themselves wholeheartedly into the celebrations.
BAFFLE
invite you to their annual BLOOMSDAY celebration
at 9.00pm Thursday June 16th 2011
Harney's Bar, Loughrea
Poet's are invited to write and read a poem on the theme: ' One Day'.
All poets welcome, especially new writers. Spectators very much appreciated.
Joycean garb/costumes will be de rigeur on the night, but not compulsory. But please bear in mind, that on arrival, you may regret not donning at least a hat... but to each his own. BAFFLE are nothing if not inclusive.
Our Bloomsday reading is always one of the highlights of the Loughrea social and artistic calendar, so please get writing, and come along early as Harney's will be packed.
See you there!
The deliciously Molly-esque Lucy McCrann is coordinating and can be contacted on email lucy.mccrann@gmail.com
