a brazen ecstasy which begs
the question some of us are asking -
is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

Deadlines

Okay, a few competitions that you might have thought you had plenty of time for, but in fact you haven't. Have included no snail mail only, except the Hungry Hill one.
Boyne Writers Swift Satire - TODAY - get your emails in, pay by PayPal
Poets meet Painters - this Friday 10th June - snail mail only, so realistically, only Irish entries
Edwin Morgan Poetry Prize - 10th June - good prizes
Bridport Prize - 30th June - great prizes, online entry
Montreal Prize - 8th July - $50,000 first prize, but not sure how much that is in Euro. Canadian dollars I presume
Patrick Kavanagh Award - 22nd July - collection of poetry. Only for poets confident enough to put £25 on themselves to win. Which is not me.
Flash 500 Humourous Verse Competiton - every quarter - 30th June - looks interesting
Fizzfest - July 1st - new competition, seems promising. Irish residents only - sorry!
Over the Edge New Writer - August 3rd - never been within an ass's roar of being shortlisted but always worth a pop
Dromineer Literary Festival - 19th August - lovely festival. This will be my year to get shortlisted (he says more in hope than expectation)
Raftery Award - August 31st - Worth a shot
Keats - Shelley Prize - June 30th - probably too highbrow for the likes of me. Don't even know what a Keat is, as the old joke goes.
Lightship Poetry competition - 30th June - Despite my affinity for lightships, this one is above my self-imposed limit
Scotscare Poetry Competition - 31st August - on the theme of A Scot in London. Free to enter!
Buzzwords Poetry - 31st July - New one on me - Judge reads all entries.
Aesthetica Creative Works - 31st August - Nice mag, bit pricey to enter

  1. Eek! Thanks Peter, I really had intended to Edwin Morgan. 3 days to inspiration.

  2. Thanks Peter. It's probably about time I was entering some of these.

  4. Blooming heck! How do you choose which ones to go for? I go for ones that don't sound too naff and have lots of prizes!
