The list of contributors is certainly very impressive - practically a who's-who of Irish poetry. Possibly I don't have my ear to the ground (like a dachsund) because I never heard that Salmon were seeking submissions. Or maybe the editor selected pieces about dogs that were already out there?
I think the only piece I've ever written about a dog was a comic piece in which I lure the reader into thinking I'm talking about a girl I fancy up until the point where she squats down and craps on the footpath. In hindsight, I doubt it would have made it into Dogs Singing.
I had Jessie on the Scrapbook on Sunday, she was saying she put it out quietly among previously Salmon published poets initially, then it kind of grew and spread.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely book, with all sorts of dog poems in there - yours might well have found a place!
It sounds like just the sort of think that should be in the anthology!
ReplyDeletethere was a busker recently who had his dog with him and the dog kept on howling during the songs - the dog was the better singer to be honest
