a brazen ecstasy which begs
the question some of us are asking -
is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

World Cup 2010 – Day 27

Germany 0 Spain 1 (Semi Final)

For all the small triangles Spain were making,
For all the German tackling and swift breaking,
For all the lethal probing balls of Xavi,
For all Schweinsteiger’s legendary savvy,
For all of David Villa’s tireless working
For all of Klose’s loitering and lurking,
For all the tactics, figured out precisely
And all the talk of closing down concisely.
For all the clever flicks of Iniesta
For all the telling forward thrusts of Lamm,
For all of Loew’s dislike of polyester,
For all del Bosque’s stately diaphragm,

It was a header from a corner, plain and simple
That saw the Spanish burst the German pimple.

  1. Too right - perhaps because this game was being so hightly anticipated it kinda fizzled out to the size of a pimple,
What a great series of footie poems. I have enjoyed everyoen of them
