"Seven bums and fourteen legs,
a brazen ecstasy which begs
the question some of us are asking -
is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

World Cup 2010 – Day 26

Netherlands 3 Uruguay 2 (Semi Final)

You wouldn’t really say it was a classic.
At times, the going got a little rough.
Tackles often bordered on Jurassic
But in the end, the Dutch just had enough.

Van Bommel left his mark on all who crossed him,
Robben tackled like a powder puff.
Kuyt plundered when the hapless fullback lost him –
One reason why the Dutch just had enough.

Uruguay were dogged and persistent,
Van Persie offered little more than fluff.
Disappointed with the ref’s assistant,
The Dutch, however, seemed to have enough.

Van Bronckhorst’s goal was really one to savour,
Forlan’s strike was somewhat off the cuff.
Sneijder’s curler had an offside flavour,
But overall, the Dutch just had enough.

Robben’s header simply was the icing,
Though many thought the scoreline slightly rough.
A late goal made the ending quite enticing
But, all in all, the Dutch just had enough.

The analysts did not indulge in fudging,
Praise was damning and a little gruff.
Their chances in the final were begrudging,
But who’s to say the Dutch won’t have enough?
