Thanks to Kate Dempsey and the timely reminder on her wonderful Emerging Writer blog - www.emergingwriter.blogspot.com - I got my submissions off to Poetry Ireland for their Introductions series. I can see the editors now, rubbing their hands excitedly at the thought of my work dropping through the letterbox.
Of course, I applied last year, thinking my work would knock 'em dead and was roundly ignored. I have to say, each of my poems this year, I think is better than last year. However, next year I will probably think the same.
Still its better to try and fail etc etc...
I got mine off as well this year. First time to submit working on the basis that when everyone else had been included they'll have to pick me. Then I realised that new poets are springing up all the time! Good luck with your submission. Are unsuccessful applicants notified?
ReplyDeleteHi Michael and a very happy Christmas to yourself and everyone at Boyne Writers.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, with your track record and recent successes, I think you stand a good chance of getting in. I have a good track record too, but mainly for my humorous stuff - not so much for my serious stuff.
And yes, I got a Dear Applicant letter at the end of February, lamenting the fact that I had been unsuccessful.
Peter
Looking forward to hearing you both read. fingers crossed
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate,
ReplyDeleteI assume you're debarred from entering as a previous Introductee? Two years ago, was it?
