"Seven bums and fourteen legs,
a brazen ecstasy which begs
the question some of us are asking -
is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

John Doe's brother, Ron

Imaginary garden with real toads challenged us on Tuesday to compile a rondeau. It is now Thursday and I'm late again. As usual, my morbidity has taken over.Please see other rondeaux (?) at the link above.

Oh tragic day

Oh tragic day, the lovely Caoimhe *
sleeps here with her kin to grieve ‘er;
a shepherdess in wooden box now,
clad in vest and cotton socks now,
till we shrug and pull the lever.

Bitten by a rabid beaver,
she succumbed to roaring fever.
Would it were a mangy fox now –
Oh tragic day!

God and drugs could not reprieve ‘er,
so we bow our heads and leave ‘er.
Upon the pearly gates she knocks now,
with no-one here to mind her flocks now,
for we’re going calling on Aviva** –
oh tragic day...

* - Irish girl's name, pronounced Queeva
** - a large insurance company in the UK and Ireland.

  4. One should enjoy poetry. You do. Because you do, we do too. I'll be huddling in my closet now, until all the rabid beavers have gone.
