is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

Catching up

Okay, just back from Roussillon and trying desperately to catch up on the news poetique.
No joy in the Hungry Hill Poets meet painters competition this year but a few familiar names in the list of Commendeds - Breda Wall Ryan, the incredibly talented Aifric McGlinchey, Eleanor Hooker (what a year for her!) and Strokestown finalist Siobhan Flynn. Aoife Troxel won the schools section. She blogs here. Well done to all.
No joy either in the Welsh Poetry competition. Obviously I'm not very good at writing Welsh Poetry.
I did manage a Commended in the formal verse section of the Poetry on the Lake competition, for my sestina A black-suited revolution. The dates of the festival in Northern Italy sadly coincides with our daughter's giving-birth date, so Monica has said I can't go.
Other news (and I have to go to the supermarket, so you'll have to google the links yezzerselves) Boyne Berries submissions must be in by the end of the month; the Tullamore Agriculture Show's poetry competiton must be in by Friday; Phizzfest has extended its deadline till the end of July (I hate it when they do that); the eagerly anticipated Poetry Bus 2 looks like it may be arriving in August; and a reminder that the Over the Edge awards for poetry and narrative poetry without line breaks must be in by August 3rd, which is coming up like a jail on wheels.

  1. Nice to have you back!
Shame about the lake, but well done. Is it her first? They're always late (see Cushions: various).

Congrats. on Poetry on the Lake. Sounds divine...
However, becoming a grandpa is far more exciting
than a trip to Italy :-)
