Rambling thoughts of one who aspires to be a poet but has thus far failed miserably
"Seven bums and fourteen legs,
a brazen ecstasy which begs
the question some of us are asking -
is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

It could be verse
When it comes to humorous verse in Ireland, two names stand out - Declan O'Brien and Sean Lyons.
Declan is of course well known for his appearances on Funny Friday on Liveline, as an MC at Baffle and a judge at Strokestown.
Sean Lyons is vice-Chairman of Listowel Writers Week and won the Strokestown Humorous Verse contest in both 2009 and 2010 and is well-loved at many an Irish festival from the Bard of Armagh to Baffle. His Sunburnt in Fuengirola and A Middle aged man buys a pair of trousers are absolute comedy classics.
Anyway, Sean (who decided to give the rest of us a chance at Strokestown this year) has brought out a collection of his finest verse in both book and CD under the brilliant title "It could be verse." All proceeds go to the Ronald McDonalds House at Crumlin Hospital. The House provides accommodation and support for families of children in the hospital.
He originally hoped to raise €5000 by selling 500 books. This he has now achieved and he has printed another batch, such is the demand. You can read a review here
The cost is a miserly €10 plus €2 p and p from Sean himself at corha@ireland.com
