The Plough Prize Results

Well, it doesn't happen very often, but this time I'm delighted to say I was right! Many thanks to Michael Farry for alerting us to the fact that the results of the Plough Prize are in and congratulations to him and his family on the birth of Ayda Rose, his first grandaughter.
Of course, the big news is that the immensely talented Kate Dempsey scooped the top award in the Short Poem category, with Amsterdam Otto Recommends, a multi-layered poem that simply oozes class. Wish I could write like that. Many congratulations to Kate, well-deserved.
I actually did better this year than in other years -
didn't get a mention in the Main Prize;
scraped onto the longlist for the short poem category with The Dachstein Ice Cave;
while in the Poems for Children category, The Insect Man came unofficially fourth (see here ) and Wasting energy made it on the longlist.
Very few Irish-sounding names on the lists. The lists and winning poems can be found here
