Got a spare poem about a train that's idling in a siding somewhere?
To mark National Poetry Day, the National Railway Museum's (UK) archive centre Search Engine is launching a competition to find the next great Railway Poet. Could it be you? If you're a budding John Betjeman, stretch your literary muscles and write a railway-related poem that could equal Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic 'From a Railway Carriage'
No entry fee. No big prizes. More an academic exercise really. Or simply a bit of fun. Enter online here
(But hurry - the competition will be departing on January 31st!!)
I think I would be rather hard pressed to write a poem about a train. (although i love Night Mail, so maybe not.)
ReplyDeleteNice, thanks for sharing... I certainly spend enough time on trains!
