Just in case you are someone like me who thinks its only just gone the end of June, check your calendar. Its time you started thinking about the Over the Edge New Writer of the Year competition. Closing date is August 3rd, postal entries only, so you don't really have that much time left.The sickeningly talented David Mohan won it last year out of an entry of 320. Probably a bit out of my league to be shortlisted but they published a long list of 60 last year, which I'll be thrilled at making.

Twas very kind of you too, you wouldn't believe what a lift it gave David, having just won the overall Hennessey, and 2nd in the Sean O Faoláin, twas the boost he needed to get the Over the Edge.
