Okay, I'm sneaking downstairs to post this while I should be helping getting things ready for holidays tomorrow. Don't know if I'll get another chance to post, so apologies to all for not answering your kind comments.
The picture above should give a clue of where we're off to. Weather at the moment is pretty crap around Salzburg - typical. Monica is a big fan of the movie, so I presume we'll be going around looking at all the sights, recreating the scenes, ho-hum.
We're actually staying outside of Salzburg in a place called St. Wolfgang in the Salzkammergut, on the shores of a lake surrounded by mountains. My mother, who was Swiss, never had much time for the Austrians, but I am going with an open mind.
So I bid thee farewell, I will be unable to catch the poetry bus for the next 2 outings, and I will see you all, metaphorically speaking, in two weeks
There is an increasing Musicals theme pervading this blog. Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, one of best friends at school was an Austrian Jewess. I holidayed several times with her at her Auntie's hotel in Klagenfurt, and loved it. Each time we left the house her Auntie would tell us, "Don't speak to any Germans".
Have a great time
ReplyDeleteAustria and Vienna specifically are the places I remember loving the most on our family trip when I was 16. Every time my mother even hears the name, "Salzburg", she still sighs and says how much she wishes she could go back.
ReplyDeleteWhen you go, just remember to have confidence, look for your favourite things and watch out for lonely goatherds! Oh, and if you can find an internet cafe with a konditorei, so much the better!
Haben sie spass!

Ho-hum indeed! I prefer your open mind attitude! Enjoy, have fun!
ReplyDeleteNever been over the pond but from videos I'd think Amadeus and incredible desserts!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time at the cinema.
ReplyDeleteI was in Salzburg once...they seemed to be rebuilding everything - very noisy!
ReplyDeleteYou'll be lucky to get away with ho-hum. Do a deer, more like.
