"Seven bums and fourteen legs,
a brazen ecstasy which begs
the question some of us are asking -
is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

Put them up against a wall and shoot them

Put them up against a wall and shoot them,
The Daily Star declared with bitter rancour.
The facts are plain, yet still the boys dispute them –
A hard neck has the Anglo-Irish banker.
For though they’ve fecked the country up completely,
Quite recklessly destroying people’s lives,
Yet still they dodge the bitter hatred neatly,
Ensuring that their personal wealth survives.

There’s nothing we can do about the millions
They garnered for themselves in loans and fees.
We really should applaud their fiscal brilliance
In forcing everybody to their knees.
Are we the only state in God’s creation
Who let these shower of bastards keep their wealth?
What does that say about us as a nation?
What does it say about our moral health?

When the history of the country’s being written,
If anyone is still around to write it,
They’ll find no record of the biter bitten –
Injustice thrives with nobody to fight it.
Their Georgian houses, set on several acres
Look down upon the soft and shifted sand,
Where our crumbling homes fall victim to the breakers
That pound the shores of this once-pleasant land.

The multi-million loans they self-awarded
Must now be paid for from the national coffers.
To pay for what this tiny banking corps did,
The Government must now take billions off us.
The Daily Star’s been slated for its headline
By many an upright and moral figure,
But if I were fearing a repayment deadline,
I’d gladly stand in line to pull the trigger.
.
Oh I'm not normally a violent person...
Just to explain to anyone outside the country. The Government has had to bail out the banks. Basically, due to banking irresponsibility, every family in the state now has to pay €22,000 to the banks. The worst offenders were Anglo Irish Bank, who are billions in debt. Now, the CEO of Anglo Irish took out a personal loan from his own bank of €80 million. And the bank has simply written it off. Contrast that with the ordinary family now in negative equity who can't afford to keep up their repayments and have their homes repossessed. Did Anglo's CEO have to move in with his inlaws? Is he still living in his opulent home?

  2. Well-written, as usual, but as an outsider, I'm at a bit of a loss.
