For those of us who write light verse - and it is a genre that is every bit as worthy as serious poetry - I would heartily recommend Martin Parker's Lighten-up Online website - http://www.lightenup-online.co.uk/ - a quarterly magazine that seeks to publish all that is light and humorous, (and probably short) in the way of poetry. You can submit for the regular site and there is also a competition each issue on a set theme. This particular issue's competition is to write, in no more than 16 lines, about a treasured possession you wished you still had.
Martin, like myself, was a finalist in this year's Humorous Poetry competition at Strokestown but unfortunately could not travel. His entry was about the "Hmmmm" heard after a poet has read a piece and the audience feel they should show some sort of reaction. It was a theme commented upon by several serious poets afterwards!!
