a brazen ecstasy which begs
the question some of us are asking -
is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

Francis Ledwidge Poetry Award 2012

The annual prestigious Francis Ledwidge Poetry Awards 2012 are now open for submissions. Run by Liam O'Meara and the Inchicore Ledwidge Society, the top three poems get nominated for the Forward Prize UK, which is a good thing to have on your CV. Full details here
All entries must be submitted before 5th November.
Somehow I managed second in this competition last year and earnestly hoped that winner Jessamine O'Connor would fail a drugs test or something. No such luck. But dead chuffed with second.
My wife has Ledwidges in her ancestry but we have been unable to link them to Slane.William Ledwidge was a music teacher and vocalist in Dublin in the mid 1800s. Among his many children was William Ledwidge, who later became famous as Wilhelm Ludwig, the bass opera singer, mentioned in Ulysses and darling of the Irish stage. Another was Joseph Ledwidge who was a sugar boiler, my wife's great great grandfather.
