is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

Some upcoming poetry competitions

Okay, a few poetry competitions coming up in the next while. Only comps with online entry. I'll try and get them in chronological order of closing date.
Poetry on the Lake competition 15th April. Winners and commendeds invited to read on an island in an Italian lake in September (as well as other prizes) Had my chance last year and couldn't go!
The Rialto Nature Poetry competition 30th April. What it says on the tin. Very good prizes.
Tapestry of Bronze 30th April. Write a poem on the subject of the god Mars (Ares) Interesting exercise. Free (yup, you read right) to enter
Swale Life Poetry competition 30th April. Small prizes. Good causes. Quarterly
Thynks Open Poetry competition 30th April. Many other themed poetry competitions on the same page
New tricks with matches 30th April - Run out of UCD.
Southport Writers Circle 30th April Includes a best humorous poem category. Moderate prizes
Wigtown Book Festival competition 7th May Prestigious. Barbara Smith came second in this one year, I think. Above my self-imposed entry limit
Northampton Literature Group 12th May Three categories - free verse, rhyming verse, humorous verse which I came second in last year. My arch-enemy Martin Parker won it.
Free bets free tips Sporting poetry comp - 13th May Sporty poems - free to enter
David Burland Poetry Prize 15th May Entries in English or French. Quite expensive to enter and I've never had any joy in it, so will probably give it a mademoiselle.
Mary Charman-Smith Poetry comp - 15th May. New one on me.
Welsh Poetry competiton - 27th May. Have entered this for a number of years and never got anywhere but that won't deter me.
The Joy of Sex - 30th May. I kid you not. Competition to mark the 30th anniversary of the book we all sniggered over in the playground.
The Bridport Prize - 31st May. Highly prestigious. Huge prizes. Guaranteed a huge entry so you'd want to be pretty good to get noticed!
New Zealand Poetry Society Annual comp - 31st May. Have entered this a couple of times and probably will again
Edwin Morgan Poetry comp 4th June Never got anywhere in this neither. Max 60 lines, so if you have any longer ones this might fit the bill
Mslexia Writing comp - 18th June - only for poets who don't have willies.
Lightship poetry comp - 30th June Decent enough prizes. But stiff entry fee. UK publishing house.
Margaret Reid Traditional Verse competition - 30th June - Got a commended in this last year. Along with 2,000 others.
Millwheel Writers poetry comp - 31st August Bit far away but these Roscommon-based writers are doing it for a good cause

Good luck!!
