Abridged looking for submissions on the theme of Silence - Jan 14th
Versal (NL based online journal) looking for submissions (apparently they have a 'reading fee') - Jan 15th
Strokestown Poetry Prize / Strokestown Gaelic Prize / Strokestown Percy French Prize - Jan 20th
Wenlock Poetry Competition - wouldn't you love to live in a place called Much Wenlock? - Jan 23rd
Trocaire / Poetry Ireland - Imagine a just and free world? - Jan 27th
Hippocrates Prize - large prizes for poems with a medical theme - Jan 31st
Stinging Fly - submissions for summer issue by Jan 31st, later issues by March 31st - note new editor Dave Lordan (not that it'll make much difference in my case)
Erma Bombeck Humorous Verse - US based, bound to get a huge entry, diminishing chances of winning - Feb 14th

  1. I really meant to get something ready for Versal this time. 15th a bit close for some magnum opus now.
    I like the sound of the Wenlock one best. Shropshire is lovely and it's the home of the Modern Olympics. Huzzah! Except boo! to Lord Coe: I'm still struggling for tickets. Not that I'll be going on about that much this year.
