is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

Southword gone west

Many thanks for your submission to Southword. We appreciate the chance to read it. Unfortunately, the piece was not successful at this time.
Best wishes.
Sincerely,
The Munster Literature Centre

Yet again, no joy from Southword. I sent in five of my best poems but no potatoes.

I know the response is probably a template and I don't fault Southword for that - it is an excellent magazine and they get thousands of poems. But you're supposed to send in your multiple submissions as a single word.doc. And the response above says "it" and "the piece" rather than "them" and "the pieces." Of course, the editor couldn't possibly have taken them as five parts of the one poem, surely?

Nah, I'm just a crap poet, might as well face up to it and stop clutching at straws.

  1. Having read this I checked the Submishmash (yes, really) and found that my sonnet had been declined too. They didn't even e-mail me! I therefore deduce you are marginally less crap than I am.

And hang on to those straws. There is a very large variance in people's tastes. I am a big fan of your work.

  2. Ditto...but I'm so over it now (as every year)
