Technology 1 Stammering Poet 0

I think I may have to give up blogging.

Not because I want to but because I can't post comments up on anybody else's blog, nor indeed on my own,

Up to about three months ago, it was fine. Then Blogger updated itself and since then whenever I comment, I have to log out and log back in again for the comment to be accepted.

Now, however, whenever I make a comment, I keep getting the error message -
"We're sorry, but we were unable to complete your request.
The following errors were found:
Input error: Cookie value is null for FormRestoration"

I have no idea what this means - the Help page is useless.

So, unless anybody has a step by step solution for a technology dunce, there's no point in me posting if I can't reply to comments and I wouldn't expect other people to post on my blog if I don't post on theirs.

  1. I read in the 'Help' section here and ask.com too-
it was some dumb (file, fold over mistake) something did not close correctly-
I got the same error message too! eventually it resolved itself-did I help it along ? I tried zillions of things...

  2. I found this solution on the internet. If you can figure out what it means:

You have a problem with authentication, and with cookie filtering.

First, make sure that your browser is up to date.

Next, try a different login procedure.
    1. Login to Blogger using "www.blogger.com".
    2. Do not check "Remember me".

If that does not help, try a second time..
    1. Clear cache, cookies, and sessions (not just cache or cookies) - then restart the browser.
    2. Login to Blogger using "www.blogger.com".
    3. Do not check "Remember me".

Alternatively, stop filtering "third party cookies", in your browser and on your computer. That's the best solution, overall - but you may have to search for the cookie filter(s) that affect your use of Blogger / Google.

You can have a cookie filter:
    1. In a native browser feature.
    2. In a browser add-on.
    3. In a security feature, on the computer.
    4. In a network device.
Please, note that any and all cookie filters must be set properly. If you have more than one cookie filter affecting access to Blogger, all filters must be set properly, before an improvement will be seen.

  3. And somewhere else this solution (which may be included in the previous comment):

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

    "Clear the Cache":

    * Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

    * Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

  5. I hope that what Michael posted helps, but in case it doesn't, here's my (other) 2 cents. This won't help on other blogs, but I've found that I can't comment on your type of comment form when I'm at work (where we use Internet Explorer). But I CAN comment on my own blog which has a different type of comment form.

First, try commenting on my blog (ha! it's not a pitch, really!). If it works, then change your comment form to Full Page on the Comments tab on the Settings tab.

Good luck! You're not allowed to quit!

  6. I can't help in the slightest as it still baffles me, but do not, do not, stop blogging. I shall come round and poke your eyes out if you do.

  7. Michael, the first one appears to have worked. Many thanks. Simply logging in through blogger.com and all my problems have flown away...
Bug, that's interesting. Not sure if I can change my comment form format but I'll see if I can do something.
    Titus, oh , okay then...

  9. Thanks Rachel, seems to be reasonably okay now but I'll bear it in mind!
