a brazen ecstasy which begs
the question some of us are asking -
is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

Poets meet politics

I often feel there are too many poems about curlews and shaping barrels and not enough about things that affect us - political and social issues and the like. So its always nice to see a new competition for political poetry, from the same people down in Bantry who gave us the Poets meet Painters competitions. This would actually be ideal for anyone who has ever submitted topical poetry to the wonderful Poetry 24 topical verse site run by Martin and Clare.

We're delighted to tell you that our Poets Meet Politics 2011 competition is now open.
This is a competition for poems on any aspect of politics, news, and current affairs, with a first prize of €100; all shortlisted poems will be included in an online anthology, and the authors will be invited to a public reading in January 2012. The entry fee is €5 for up to three poems, and the closing date for entries is 16 December 2011.
For full details, including instructions for online entry, see www.hungryhillwriting.com — and please forward this link to anyone you think might be interested.
Best wishes
