Of course its an impossible competition to judge. How do you choose between a light-hearted piece of verse and a deep and meaningful creative piece of writing? I always have every sympathy for the judges, who, this year, are Kevin Barry and Lisa Padden.
Theme for this year's competition is 'Rumour has it.' I wrote mine last week and have been tinkering with it ever since, which is something I don't usually do. Obviously I'd love to make the final but the competition is always fierce and every year brings disappointments.
But its till not too late. Loughrea is only 2 hours from Dublin. Write a poem - register in O'Dea's hotel at 7.30pm and thereafter I promise you'll be hooked.
I'm saying a prayer for you, Pete.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris - the prayer worked - I managed to read my poem fairly well without too much stammering!
