"Seven bums and fourteen legs,
a brazen ecstasy which begs
the question some of us are asking -
is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

Half an Excessively Priced Bus Ticket

Once again, the lovely NanU is at the wheel of the Poetry Bus (follow her link for other passengers) and her price of boarding is a poem "of Excess. Of Far Too Much. Of Going Over the Edge." She also suggested that we throw structure out of the window, which I haven't done. Ergo, a demi-ticket...

OTT

Oh I party and revel
all through the night,
a Tasmanian Devil,
as high as a kite.
I’m a tutti-frutti,
I just can’t stop
and I shake my booty
until I drop.
I’m a can of coke shaken,
I’m a sherbert fizz,
I’m sizzling bacon,
I’m Billy Whizz.
I’m a hot volcano
on a seismic fault
and I cannot say no
when folk cry halt.
I’m a punk rock medley,
I’ve no control,
Yeah, I’m bleedin’ deadly
when I’m on a roll.
I’m a Boris Becker,
I’m a Tommy Bowe,
I’m a busy little fecker
so watch me go.
I’m a wound-up toaster,
I’m a car alarm,
I’m a roller-coaster
on a chocolate farm.
I’m a shocking rumour,
I’m va-va-vroom,
I’m a wop-bam-a-looma
a-wop-bam-boom.
I’m a tossing ocean,
I’m Brenda Lee,
I’m perpetual motion,
I’m OTT.

  3. Oh, I like this. Complete Billy Whizz.

Had to look up Tommy Bowe, and after the shot in the water, I'm rather glad I did.

  7. I don't think I've ever had that much energy in my whole life! Maybe when I was two.

I hate to seem ignorant, but what does OTT stand for?

  9. Many thanks to all and apologies to all stateside for OTT, which I had always thought was an Americanism that we'd adopted. Over the top.

  10. Peter,
This American knew what OTT was (texting lingo maybe?) I had to Google Tommy Bowe, and after several hours of staring and drooling I returned to your site to tell you that I liked your poem!

  11. This is such fun to read aloud! As I read I kept picking lines I particularly liked, but by the end, I had the whole poem!
