Dear Writer:
We appreciate the opportunity to read your work, but unfortunately this submission was not a right fit for Ellipsis: Literature an Art.
Thank you for trying us.
Sincerely,
The Editors of Ellipsis: Literature an Art
Hmm. Wonder if this is in response to my post last week about not hearing anything back from them since last November? Or am I being arrogant by thinking they read my blog??
There are so many different ways of saying 'no' but they all mean the same thing.
ReplyDeleteDear writer? Lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt's not arrogance on your part..it's stubborn hope..that's the way THEY are. But you're a writer, so....
ReplyDeleteEllipsis is a college journal that receives hundreds if not thousands of submissions yearly. Reading them all is a thoughtful, and therefore slow, process that begins in September and continues through the academic year until spring publication. To be blunt, if you sent a poem to the editors in November, it would have been near the bottom of the pile. Yes, you are arrogant to think that the editors read your blog; they don't have the time. Now that the sting of rejection has worn off, I hope you re-read the letter and understand the sincerity behind the concise wording. Please re-submit; changes are made to the editorial staff yearly so tastes could easily change in your favor.
