Boyne Writers monthly open mic session in Knightsbridge Retirement Village this Thursday night (24th) at 8pm features the multi-talented Noel King (above) who makes the long journey north to regale you with some of his wonderful poetry. Noel's name appears regularly in poetry anthologies and his name crops up in the commended and short-listed sections of poetry competitions as much as David Mohan's, which is saying something.
When I used to write for the Creedon Show on RTE, Noel contacted me and asked if I might like to contribute to the Doghouse Book of Ballad Poems that he was compiling. I did, he published my offering (with some very flattering words in the foreword) and thus was born my mistaken belief that I could one day hack it as a poet. So basically I blame him.
Sadly I am working this Thursday night but I would urge anyone who can to attend.
The following Thursday (March 31st) when I'm back on days, I am looking forward to the launch of Boyne Berries 9 in the Castle Arch Hotel in Trim. Always an entertaining night with writers coming from far and near to read their contributions. Proceedings again get under way at 8pm.
You have hacked it
