It appears that our pancakes are a lot thinner than the American version, so we'll just have to eat more of them.
The Poetry Bus threw up some amazing odes to Pancakes. I also recently wrote for the Community Voice about them here so perhaps its best if I leave the final word on the subject to two experts:-
Shrove Tuesday
Mix a pancake,
Stir a pancake,
Pop it in the pan;
Fry the pancake
Toss the pancake –
Catch it if you can.
(Christina Rossetti)
Who wants a pancake,
Sweet and piping hot?
Good little Grace looks up and says,
"I'll take the one on top."
Who else wants a pancake,
Fresh off the griddle?
Terrible Teresa smiles and says,
"I'll take the one in the middle."
(Shel Silverstein)

We had four each at lunch time with lashings of fresh lemon juice.
ReplyDeleteI'm helping out with our church's Shrove Tuesday pancake fundraiser - I sure hope I get to EAT some after all this torture READING about them :)
ReplyDeleteClass acts. I'm making the batter for a 7pm feast right now. And always, and only, with caster sugar and lemon juice!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I missed this! it is so much fun, thanks!
