Received through the post today a lovely glossy brochure for the above festival, which is on from Wednesday 16th to Saturday 19th February at the Metropole Hotel in Cork. Difficult for non-Corkonians to get to the events without taking time off work but the line-up seems pretty good (in other words, it features people I've heard of) including one of my favourites James Harpur. Dave Lordan, Pat Boran, Gabriel Rosenstock and Patrick Cotter are in there too.

You always seem to have lovely cultural things going on in Ireland, Peter. Love the picture too.
ReplyDeleteCan I really call myself a poet if i've never heard of any of these names? Maybe I should expand my poetry subject matter.
ReplyDeleteHi Weaver, yes, we do, and we don't appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteDarren, simple answer, yes. I think there are two major strands of poets in Ireland today. The established poets, who nobody understands, and the guerilla poets performing in open-mic pubs who might never get on the Leaving Cert but appeal to more normal audiences.
