is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

Carlsberg don't do birthday presents...

Well, I have to say I knew it was coming but I was still pretty excited when they wheeled it out yesterday.(my birthday was postponed by a day to allow people to travel)
It was actually Niamh Bagnell put the idea in my head when I did my radio interview with her in the summer. She thought it might help my speech to have something to hold onto. And the more I thought about it, the more I realised a number of my poems were written with tunes in mind, which sort of opens up a world of possibilities.
So now I have to go away and learn how to play the bloody thing, slightly concerned that I won't be able to play it, hoping against hope that I'll have the riff from Lou Reed's 'Vicious' by this afternoon and then master Freebird by the weekend.
Oui, oui, je suis un rockstar...

  2. Hi Peter - look forward to hearing your first offering. Do you blog with my son, Dominic Rivron on my side bar? He is a guitar teacher and also has a site of free guitar music - might be worth seeing what he can do for you. Happy New Year to you and happy playing.

  4. That is a beauty! I tried to learn the Bass guitar once - wanted to play and sing Kate Bush (what was I nuts?)

    Cannot wait to hear the results of your accomplishments!

  6. I took guitar lessons in college. It was hopeless - I have no rhythm, no sense of where my fingers are at any given time (!!) AND I wasn't interested in developing calluses. Sigh. Much cushier to type poems on a computer :)

    However, I'll bet you'll be fabulous!

  7. easy peasy!.. learn chords C, F and G first. by combining these three chords it is possible to play almost everything ever written! oh and in case you're interested, here's a good site for guitar related learnings;

    good luck, and happy christmas and new year ;-)

  9. Many thanks to all. My problem appears to be that I have short fat fingers and not only do I have difficulty arching my fingers around to make the chords but my fingers cover more than one string at a time!
    But I'll persevere...
