Pas de joie a Bridport

I don't know why I bother entering the Bridport Prize, Plough Prize, Basil Bunting Award etc. These competitions all have very large entries and I'm not at a level yet to make my work stand out.
This from the Bridport website -
RESULTS: Winners and those shortlisted have now been informed and the results will be published on our website after 31st October.
In the absence of any communication, I think I should have spent my entrance money on Mars Bars.

  1. Ah well, fair play for trying - I've given up on pay as you go awhile as well. Mars bars are just too important to me.

  2. I went through a phase of entering competitions. I came second or third in the odd local one and like your good self, nowhere in the 'real' ones. So I stopped entering them altogether and spent the entrance money on good Claret wine instead. But then I fell in love with Bukowski (“Genius might be the ability to say a profound thing in a simple way.”)He sent things in for years and years and eventually somebody liked his stuff.
So I've decided to start entering again, which means back to cheap wine. Anybody know a good cheap wine?

  3. Hi Niamh, thought you were just starting to break through on both sides of the Atlantic?
Mags - great that you're entering again. Another bleeding good poet standing in my way of fame and fortune. (The brother in law swears by Lidl wine, incidentally)
