the question some of us are asking -
is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

Baffle news - Sunday brunch

It was our first time attending the Baffle Brunch on the Sunday lunchtime and what a wonderful occasion it was too.
Immaculately compered by Siun MacDonald, the legendary Vinny Caprani regaled us with some of his legendary Dublinese poems and recimatations. Personally I always found Maureen Potter as funny as a road accident. Vinnie showed how it should be done. The caricature was absolutely perfect and his account of the Shawlies, I hope, has been recorded for posterity. Vinnie really had the audience in stitches.
Folly that, as they say. I had to reprise my winning poem of last year, the Ballad of Isaiah Turner and got through it relatively smoothly (changing a few unimportant but possibly treacherous words here and there, as I went) It was fun resurrecting Isaiah again after a year.
After that, the wonderful comic poet Sean Lyons took to the podium and regaled us with some of his wonderful verse, including the now legendary A Middle-aged man goes shopping for trousers (including the immortal line - "Inside I know I'm thin") and Sunburnt in Fuengirola. Sean has won the Percy French at Strokestown for the past two years and is therefore my sworn arch-enemy, but my God, I laughed so much my sides were hurting.
All this followed by a lovely meal with the tenderest beef I've had for a long time. Perfection.
