"Seven bums and fourteen legs,
a brazen ecstasy which begs
the question some of us are asking -
is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

Adding a little Basil

Being woefully unread, I had never heard of Basil Bunting until the inaugural poetry competition that bears his name was launched last year. I entered but got nowhere.
I would love to tell you that I was determined to read up about him and digest some of his poetry but sadly, with a full time job, writing for the local paper, writing for the Shelbourne FC programme, a wife and two kids and six unread books glaring at me from the bookcase, I still no next to nothing about Basil.
Got this today -
Dear Peter Goulding, Following the success of the first BB Award last year which culminated in a wonderful awards evening in December complete with audio links to California we are pleased to announce that the Award will be held again this year. We are delighted to have Jo Shapcott as our judge and Neil Astley of Bloodaxe Books, the leading poetry publishers, has once again kindly agreed to look at the work of the winners.Full details of dates and rules will follow towards the end of the month.

Wonder if Neil is any relation to Rick?

  2. By the look of Basil, I wouldn't have thought he'd be enlivening.
