"Seven bums and fourteen legs,
a brazen ecstasy which begs
the question some of us are asking -
is Peter Goulding multi-tasking?"

A bolt from the blue!

Poetry Ireland/Éigse Éireann is delighted to announce you have been selected for the Introductions Series 2010. We received a large number of submissions for this series, so congratulations on your selection.
The Introductions Series 2010 will take place in early May (date’s TBC) in the Irish Writers' Centre. Please contact Poetry Ireland/Éigse Éireann to confirm acceptance of your Introductions reading.
A free workshop with poet and critic James McAuley is also offered as part of the Introductions series. Previous Introductions readers have found this workshop invaluable in terms of preparing both the poems and the poet for a public reading. The workshop with Jim will run on the following date at the following venue:
When: Saturday 10th April 2010 from 11am – 4pm
Where: The Damer Hall, 112 St Stephens Green, Dublin 2
Once again, if it isn’t possible for you to attend the workshop, please let us know as soon as possible.
Congratulations on your selection for the Poetry Ireland Introductions Series 2010, and do encourage family, friends and colleagues to turn up on the night to offer their support.
Warmest wishes
Administrator, Poetry Ireland

Well, this was something I certainly didn't expect. But as I read the email and clenched my fist with delight, the words of Once in a Lifetime came back to me -

"And you may ask yourself, My God! What have I done?"

  3. Hi Michael, seems a bit of an injustice that I got in and you didn't. But hey, we all know poetry's not fair.
Thanks Kate (I'll have to get some tips off you!)

  4. Terrific news! I know how hard it is to get on the list, I got my shot in 2005, after trying a few times, so well done - great news!

  7. Congrats, this sounds grand! (I, too, am a poet who has thus far failed miserably, but you sound like you're going to leave that all behind now!)

PS: I'm a Talking Heads fan, too.

  8. Thanks TFA,
Its probably the best feather I've had.

    Terresa,
If a gobshyte like me can get in, there's hope for everyone.
(I remember seeing Talking Heads supporting The Ramones back in 77, and was blown away by both!)
